Learn Mindfulness Meditation and be calm through your emotional highs and lows
Join mindfulness trainer, Suzie Brown, and adult educator and senior, Jan McLellan for this Mindfulness for Seniors workshop in Ocean Grove.
The workshop will give you tools and support in handling the challenges specific to growing old, including:
- The stress and anxiety related to ageing, sickness, incapacity and physical pain.
- The grief and loneliness in losing loved ones.
- The fears or anxiety of approaching the end of life.
You’ll learn practices to help relax the mind, reduce worries, access joy and contentment even through the hard time., and bring present moment awareness to your whole day.
The workshop will include the following meditations and skills:
- awareness and understanding of the causes of emotional stress and how to reduce it
- breath meditation
- relaxation techniques
- loving kindness and self-compassion meditations
- tools for dealing with chronic pain
- mindful movement
After the workshop you’ll receive audio guided meditations to take home and continue to practice, as well as a Reminder Wallcard and further reading.
Suzie Brown draws on her training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and many years of Insight meditation practice and teaching to offer this experiential workshop. Read more about Suzie here.
Jan McLellan is a long-time meditator and has many years experience in adult education. She is 80 years old and has found mindfulness meditation to be a crucial support for her as she ages.
The workshop is suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators.
Price – $70 or $50 for current Pension Card holders – includes refreshments from Kyosk Cafe next door, audio guided meditations, worksheets and reminder wallcard.
